Vampire Philosophy: Thought Shard no:566, On Change and Humanly Love…

Throughout history, philosophers have been tackling problems relating to a variety of subjects like existence, society, political theory, ethics, values, art, epistemology etc. As most of philosophy is directly questioning aspects of human life and its relations to other matters like the ones mentioned earlier, it can be objective only up to a degree as we are all human after all. What we lack is total objectivity, which can only be possible by viewing these matters from a completely different perspective; a non-human one. This series of texts (recordings) attempts to question us from a unique perspective with a vampiric touch to all matters that matter to us…

“Greetings Human!

I am Lyzette leaving this recording in the Highgate Cemetary as a reflection of our thoughts; the vampire perspective. This is thought shard number 566, recorded in 1449 AD, based on our perception of change and humanly love.

Sadly, unconditional and eternal love AKA true love does not exist in your world. It is just as a myth to you as we, Strigoi are. False assumptions, ignorance, unawareness and illusions mislead you into believing its existence, just like those of you who are convinced we, vampires can turn into bats. Here, our transformation into bats is just in your minds, not in the physical world bound by unbreakable no transformation rules. However, change is different. Much slower but more effective in the long run.

Your world is fueled by change. You survive by changes of all kinds, in every aspect. You change in size as you grow from infancy to adulthood. Your early ideas are reshaped by influence of your teenage idols whereas your desires, dreams and demands are altered by personal experience as you get older. And yet, you choose to believe in eternal, unconditional love when everything in and around you is dependent on conditions that change constantly. And that’s not all, as constant change occurs in both parties. Now, tell me how true love is possible! If it indeed were, you would still be chasing the first soul you ever kissed or held hands with.

You only fall in love with illusions… or the perfect versions of the people who you think you are in love with. When you realize the initial feelings are withering away, you try to remodel your beloved into a glorified image of a dream. The perfect image shatters as both parties push each other away unwillingly.

In an ideal case of true love, jealousy would never reside in the minds of the lovers as each party is confident of themselves to make the other party much happier than anyone else ever could. Knowing that nobody else could claim that special spot in the other’s heart. Or… in the event that the lovers grew apart, the more loving party would just let go of the other rather than obsessing themselves to win them back. They would know that letting go would make the other party happy. Wasn’t true love about making each other happy?

In short, true love does not exist because of the fact that change is unavoidable as time cannot be stopped. The only way to pause time briefly is through reliving the good memories over and over again until they aren’t vivid as before. And that’s exactly what you think love is…

The next thought shard can be found buried deep beneath the Sphinx in modern Egypt.

End of transfer.”

Why we need Drama and Pain in Life

Why we need Drama and Pain in Life

Routine

Our lives are destined to get dull as soon as we’re born. As routines take over our childlike imagination when we step into adulthood, it gets even more boring; getting up, taking a shower, having breakfast, going to work, having lunch, coming back, watching TV with the usual wine glass in hand and going to bed for the next same day. That’s also basically why we all love weekends or off days, as they break the dullness of the routines we all loathe. We can go camping one weekend and stay home doing nothing the next. Any out-of-the-ordinary activity will make us feel good and boost our morale.
Routines are boring whether it’s the activities or our emotional state. We crave for changes subconsciously.
And that’s exactly why we need ups and down in our emotional state. To break the cycle… as against order, we are hopeless rebels inside.
Picture our heartbeat lines going up and down with each breath we take… a beating heart is the means of survival while a flatline kills us. Our emotional line tends to work the same way, never wanting to be on a dull, single flatline.
We make bad decisions all the time even if we are not complete idiots, choose abusive people to be our one-sided love affairs and torment ourselves for pleasure at every instant we can…

We are indeed drama addicts, inflicting self-pain just to break routine.

Acceptance All the Way

We, humans (Hereinafter referred to as “insatiable morons”) are nearly impossible to please and satisfy even if everything goes on the rightest track. To put it more simply; we might find the weather in summer scorching while the same “we”, have no trouble cursing when it’s freezing in winter. And it’s not only atmospheric conditions that makes the “insatiable morons” feel that way. We can buy the latest gadget we’d been craving for… and then plunge into huge debts to buy the upgraded new model with specifications that we know we’ll never use. We boost through life with an attention span of fish, yet the brief happy moments of our lives we are meant to enjoy, fade away before we can even comprehend.

When it comes to romantic affairs, we are usually stunned by our counterparts as soon as we set eyes upon them. We would do anything to be with them. Yet, when we finally do, the magic disappears. We work hard to shape our loved ones into what we want, but didn’t we fall in love with the original in the first place? Now that we got what we wanted, why the desire for total transformation? Love is not toxic, we are! Are we so glamoured by the wrapping paper of the product that soon after we have it, we rip off what we’d fallen in love with and throw it right into the bin?

Change is unavoidable and almost imminent, but it’s also controllable. So, in your next relationship (or in your current one), work on to change things for the good. Keep in mind, once it starts, change never stops and the person you love will surely become someone you hate.

Embrace love, accept it fully and let it find its own way…

Drift away!

You! The timid resident of middle of nowhere! Abandon your kingdom, leave your shell (or hell) behind and drift away… Liquidify slowly into the unknown beyond and embrace it with your most basic instinct. The unknown becomes familiar and the fear gradually melts away once you start exploring its boundaries. Drift away as when you are on the run from something, you’re actually getting closer to another thing. Choose wisely! But, even if you want to get away from negativity and all you find is more negativity in your final drift, remember that even two negatives makes a positive. Choose wisely! Choose change!
